Camp Coding Space

Where Kids Learn to Think Like Engineers

Ages 8-13

Hands-on coding. Independent thinking. Real projects kids are proud of.

Camp Coding Space combines rigorous coding instruction with the kind of summer kids actually want to have: hands-on, collaborative, and genuinely fun. Held Monday through Friday throughout the summer on the Upper East Side, in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and in Port Washington, Long Island, our camps have a 4:1 camper-to-instructor ratio so every student gets the individual attention they need to grow. In addition to coding, campers enjoy daily outdoor time and group activities. Because the friendships you make while building things together are part of what makes the summer memorable.

Morning: Core Coding & Problem-Solving

In the mornings, campers work on real coding projects in Scratch, JavaScript, and Python. Our instructors never lecture; instead they use the Socratic Method, asking targeted questions that push students to think independently and solve problems on their own.

As campers build, they learn to:

  • Break down complex problems
  • Build, test, and improve their own programs
  • Think critically and communicate their thinking
  • Collaborate with peers

Afternoon: Tech Pathways

In the afternoons, campers choose a Tech Pathway to go deeper in a domain that interests them. Each pathway is designed to connect directly to morning coding work, giving campers the skills, tools, and assets to level up their projects. Campers can choose the same pathway all week or try different pathways each day.

Tech Pathways include:

  • Game Design: Master the craft behind great games — level design, mechanics, and user experience. Campers apply these concepts directly to games of their own design.
  • Robotics: Bring code off the screen and into the physical world. Campers program robots to solve challenges, seeing firsthand how the logic they write in the morning controls real hardware.
  • Digital Art: Create everything you see on screen. Campers design sprites, animate characters, and build backdrops that plug directly into their morning coding projects — because a great game needs great visuals.
  • AI: Go under the hood on how intelligent systems actually work. Campers build AI projects, connecting directly to the programming skills they're developing each morning.

A Day at Camp Coding Space

Field Trips

During the summer, our NYC campers visit real tech companies and innovation spaces throughout the city. Here's what we have lined up for Summer 2026:

Mercer Labs (UES Week 2)

Campers explore the intersection of art and technology, experiencing how modern tools are transforming creative expression.

Google (UES Week 3 & Park Slope Week 1)

Campers will tour Google HQ, learn from Google engineers, and share lunch at a Google cafe.

More trips to be announced soon!

Not Your Typical Coding Camp

At The Coding Space, we specialize in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for kids to have fun, be challenged, and discover their passions. Our teachers never lecture; instead, they ask targeted questions using the Socratic Method to get students thinking and problem solving on their own. By focusing on the development of computational thinking skills, intellectual confidence, self-expression, and independence, our students learn to code while growing as thinkers, learners, and leaders.

What Families Are Saying About The Coding Space

I was impressed by how much one-on-one feedback James received. I really liked the fact that the camp counselors didn't tell him what to do, but rather encouraged him to problem solve on his own.

Easily the best coding camp in NYC - actually teaches coding with engaged, hands-on instruction, rather than throwing kids in a computer lab to fend for themselves all day as many other camps do. Staff are friendly and attentive, and booking - even last-minute - is easy and efficient. My camper learned a ton of new skills and had a lot of fun doing it. Thanks for a great summer!

We are with The Coding Space for the 3rd year and it's been a great journey into coding together! Kids start with Scratch (building blocks of coding), then move onto WoofJS (JavaScript) and after that start coding on Python. They build valuable skills that empower them in their further educational and working life, I can't be happier with the Coding Space!

Attending The Coding Space again was an incredible experience! I love the activities as well as the instructors who are knowledgeable, supportive and kind. I gained valuable skills in coding that I feel confident in. The collaborative environment made learning enjoyable and effective. I highly recommend this camp to anyone looking to enhance their coding skills and connect with a community of like-minded individuals. It was truly a transformative and fun experience!

I can't say enough good things about The Coding Space! My ten-year-old had an absolutely fantastic time during their two-week camp. From coding projects to STEM activities, every part of the program was engaging and well-organized. The field trip was a highlight, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience. The camp counselors were incredible—both fun and professional, creating an environment where my son felt excited and motivated every day. He was thrilled to be there, and it was clear that he was fully engaged throughout the entire camp. If you’re looking for a camp that combines education with enjoyment in a supportive and dynamic setting, The Coding Space is the place to be. Highly recommend!,
