Our high school programs build on foundational critical thinking, problem solving, and computational thinking skills with new opportunities designed to help students reach their goals. From working through larger independent projects to developing leadership and mentoring capabilities, these programs aim to build confidence, self-expression, and connection.
In our Teen Code course held September through June, students will work in several languages depending on their experience. Beginners will learn JavaScript, the language of the web, through creating projects in WoofJS, our JavaScript learning platform. Intermediate coders will learn to build web-based games and applications in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. More advanced coders will take a deeper dive into advanced JavaScript or work in Python, Java, or another text-based language of their choosing.
The Coding Space Academy is a two-week in-person coding intensive held over the summer for rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. In this brand new rigorous pre-college program, coding novices and experienced programmers alike will pick up the hard skills of coding, dive into the professional and collegiate world of computer science, test their limits, make friends, and be treated like the young adults that they are — all in an immersive boot camp setting.
It’s often said that there is no better way to learn than to teach. Similar to a CIT program, this program is designed for teenagers who enjoy helping younger learners and serving as a mentor and role model. After learning our curriculum, our STEM Leadership students join our teacher training program, where they’ll become adept in teaching using the Socratic Method. As they progress, they’ll team up with our expert teachers to lead coding classes for younger students.
Our seasonal camps and classes are suitable for students of all ages and skill levels. Click below to learn more about our experience levels or get personalized recommendations by checking what you're interested in.
We believe that everyone has a right to equitable education in a safe and inclusive learning environment and are committed to increasing access to our high-quality coding programs. Our scholarship program accounts for 25 percent of the students we teach. Our long-term goal as we work towards educational equity is to reach 50 percent of our students through at-cost and pro-bono services.
